right now. a police chase that ended with the dramatic car crash in oakland just a few hours ago. six people rushed to the hospital as we just got word that one of the passengers, they have died. ktvu alex savage is live for us, including the man hunt underway right now. alex? >> reporter: police at this point are looking for the driver of the suv, but i also want to tell you here that the sergeant on scene, they have confirmed toney a 19-year-old man was killed in this crash here. he was a passenger inside this stolen suv you're looking at right now. it was being chased this morning by chp officers. the suv was packed with eight people inside, coming down this hill when the driver lost control and slammed into a tree. here was the scene around 3:30 this morning here on the drive in oakland. paramedics transported six passengers with various injuries. one of them later died. the pursue all began when police tried topping this suv when the driver of the suv took off. chp officers picked up the pursuit on the freeway in oakland. it's unclear if alcohol was involved here, but the sergean

sideshow in the middle of 880. it happened in oakland over the weekend. brian flores joins us live now from oakland to let us know what you've just learned. >> reporter: good afternoon. this particular sideshow happened on 880 at 4:00 p.m. on saturday near the coliseum. while some of the drivers may have been having fun, the chp and other drivers there just are not laughing. >> there's also incidents where there's hospital in the i have sinty that people are trying to reach family members or care for themselves. so absolutely in no way is this safe driving. >> reporter: the drivers in these cars doing doughnuts near the coliseum are in big trouble with the law. >> i've never seen anything like this. it's just -- it's unreasonable. it looks like something you would see on a video game. these are real life incidents. >> reporter: on saturday afternoon, the unknown driver stopped northbound traffic for this sideshow. while sideshows are nothing new to the area, this was one of the first time this happened on the freeway, according to investigators. >> you saw people outside their cars. it was

, oakland police say they are holding a news conference to talk about two recent shootings that injured police officers. police say a 13-year-old veteran was shot and wounded by a suspect during a foot chase in the fruitvale district on friday. five days earlier, on january 21st, an undercover police officer was shot and wounded while working on seminary avenue. full recoveries are expected for both officers. >>> the super bowl found 49ers are already in the big easy this morning. fans waved 49er faithful fashion as the team took off for new orleans yesterday at noon. five hours later, they touched down in new orleans for a week of practice before the game. the odds are on the niners' side. they are favored to beat the ravens. san francisco has been to the super bowl five times and they've won each game. the last one in 1995. 49ers have settled in at their new headquarters in downtown new orleans. fans greeted the players and took pictures with them in front of large banners. today, the team will begin weight lifting, practice and team meetings and we have our own team in new orleans. t

:05. also early this morning, firefighters raced to a fire at a senior facility in oakland. this is the second fire at this location in the last 111 days. the -- 11 days. the fire chief says the facility caught fire. the facility sprinkler systems contained the fire to the cart. the laundry room forced evacuations on january 20th. >>> overnight a bomb scare disrupted train service. he spotted a suspicious box with wires sticking out of it. san francisco police then cordoned off the caltrain station at 4th and king streets as a precaution. the bomb squad inspected the item and determined that it was harmless. no one was hurt. the train was scheduled to head back out. the passengers waiting to board were bussed to another station for a new outbound train. >>> 7:06. let's go right back to sal. we have that mess in the south bay because of the big rig crash but you are watching everywhere else as well. >> that's right. we're gonna start at northbound 101 at fair oaks. the chp told janine they are just about to open the lanes here on the 101 but the backup is almost to the san j
of my battling a 2 alarm fire last night in a vacant oakland home. here is video from the scene. the fire for started around 5:00 p.m., and the 600 block of harrison street near oakland's chinatown neighborhood. when firefighters arrived they found two people on a neighboring roof, and it appeared that they had stayed there from the burning home. the two were detained by oakland police for questioning. authorities say that the building is a total loss. the cause of the fire remains under investigation. >> meanwhile, police are investigating a body that was found along the alameda shore line. authorities say a man was walking down a path at robert w. crowned memorial state beach and noticed a body or around 10:00 a.m. yesterday morning. alameda fire crews pulled on the man's body from the water near was blind and shoreline drives. he is believed to be 87 between 20 and 30 years old, he was fully close with no obvious sign of trauma. if police believe that the body had been in the water for about six hours. the alameda county coroner's office is working to identify the man. >> if
